Whether starting up a new pool or one that has been closed over the winter, proper start up will get you swimming faster, enjoying the pool more and help prevent problems during the summer months.
* Remove, Clean and Store Pool Cover with SunGuard Pool Cover Cleaner and perform housekeeping chores such as brushing, vacuuming and emptying skinner baskets of dirt and debris.
* Add Water - water level should always be approximately halfway up the skimmer opening.
Prepare Equipment - by following the manufacturer's recommendations.
* Balance Water - by taking one quart of pool water to your professional SunGuard dealer - Kolbe's Pool and More - for a complete water anaylsis. Follow their instructions for balancing your pool water.
* Remove Organic Waste - with 1 pound of "SunGuard Cal-Shock" per 10,000 gallons or 1 pound of "SunGuard Litho-Shock" per 6,000 gallons.
* Prevent Algae - by adding an initial dose of "SunGuard Algecide" at 1 quart per 25,000 gallons.
* Continuous Disinfection - regular sanitation consists of using "SunGuard Chlorination Stix" or 1" or 3" Tablets in your floater or automatic chlorinator. Maintain a free chlorine level of at least 1.0 ppm at all times to continuously kill bacteria. |
